1936, the beginning of speaking
movies. The childhood of the relation between sounds, voices and moving pictures.
Kenji Mizoguchi shot his first speaking movie, "The sisters of the Gion" in
Kyoto. A story about Geishas with 12 characters.
From this movie, I just keep the sound which inspire the script of a new
mute movie shoot on Kyoto. This mute movie, matrix of The prehistoric experience,
present 12 characters with no actions, waiting for voices and stories.
Each screening is accompany by a live commentary on cinema theaters. Each
interpret gives is own story on the mute movie, with is own language and his
own subjectivity. The prehistoric experiment is a movie in progress. A narrative
experience depending to the screening contexts.
